Moroccan Lanterns

A range of authentic hand-made Moroccan lanterns from Marrakech in glass and iron. The collection covers floor, table, wall-mounted and ceiling-hung lamps.

Most of the Moroccan lanterns you see around the place are fitted with standard lightbulbs, and nice enough they are too. The trouble is that these lanterns designs were made for housing flames and much of the attraction of the lanterns is lost in their absence. Multiple reflections in the numerous glass panels and flickering firelight patterns through the cut metal dancing on adjacent walls and ceilings bring the lanterns to life and give a real feeling of warmth and ambience.

Even the use of candles does not get the lanterns back to where they used to be - they are often too small and get lost within the expanse of the lamps. The original lanterns would have contained bowls of burning oil or tallow with their larger yellow flames; but whether it is tallow or wax, there are the unavoidable problems of safety, cleaning and replacement of the candles or oil.

With the Firelamp we have removed the downsides of safety, cleaning and maintenance but added the benefits of a large colourful flame - the best silk flame on the planet. (Honest, guv.)

All the models are fitted with either the plug-in or wall-mounting versions of the Firelamp. The plug-in Firelamp is better for lanterns that are being used as table or floor lamps, where a plug-socket is available and preferable. The wall-mounting Firelamp is appropriate where the lanterns are to be fitted to existing wall or ceiling mains wiring, just like standard wall or ceiling lamps.

Large Hanging Glass Lantern HMB 5370

A four-sided glass and metal hanging lantern with an antique brass finish. Four glazed minarets at each corner and cut metal onion domes to top and bottom.

Small Hanging Glass Lantern HMB 1960

Smaller in scale, this model is six-sided with punched metal piping to each corner and cut-metal domes above and below. Glass colours are predominantly clear with red, blue, yellow and green panels.

A flat-based four-sided glass and metal lantern that can be floor or table standing with the plug-in Firelamp, or wall / ceiling mounted with the wall-mounting Firelamp.

A smaller version of the glass lantern above with spired minarets on each of the four corners and a hanging ring at the top if you want to wall or ceiling mount it.
