Silk Flamelights

This is just to let you know that we have passed our Flamelight business on to The Glow Company, and they will now be supplying the Firelamps (both the Standard and Red LED versions) and their replacement accessories (bulbs, transformers and flames).

One thing to note — flames for older Firelamp models are no longer available, and the new style flames are not compatible with the older Firelamps. Older flames have the two pieces of yellow fabric attached to a flexible white band, whereas with the new flames the fabric pieces are attached to a rigid black plastic oval band.

Shadow Lamps

The new Shadow Lamps are yet another fascinating innovation from Luxa. The laminated paper lampshades have been double-printed to have shadowy hidden images on the inside which only appear when the lamp is turned on, and this changes the lamp from a pleasantly decorated shade into something rather more interesting when lit.

The lamps can be mains operated using the supplied USB cable (requiring a mains USB socket or plug — see below) or they can be connected to a computer, laptop or power bank battery. They also have a battery option to use 3 x 'AA' batteries via the battery compartment in the base.

There are three lighting mode options — continuous, pulsing glow or a gentle tea light flicker. These can be scrolled through by pressing the touch-sensitive switch on the front of the lamp.

Rainwalker Shadow Lamp

This design has an outer shade of dappled sky blue, but it unveils a woman walking her dog in the rain while the sun tries to break through.

Wild Meadow Shadow Lamp

The one exception to the double-printing in the Shadow Lamp range is the 'Wild Meadow' design - here we have made the highlight of this lamp the laser-cut butterflies whose wings can be pressed out just a little to catch the light and make them look as though the sun is glinting off their wings as they rise above a Summer meadow.

Girl on A Swing Shadow Lamp

This Summer scene of a tree in a field reveals two children playing on a swing and picking flowers under it when switched on.

Jazz Band Shadow Lamp

This design has a gently tinted outer print with musical notes rising to the heavens. Switching the lamp on shows the source to be a frisky jazz quartet playing their hearts out.

Red Balloon Shadow Lamp

A simple red balloon adorns the outside of this lamp but it brings to light Banksy's iconic 'Girl With a Red Balloon' set against a brickwork background.

This shade shows a pastel-coloured snow-covered landscape with all the wildlife appearing when the lamp is switched on.

The Moon Chess Shadow Lamp has NASA's iconic photograph of the moon as the setting for this shade  -  turning it on reveals what some cats and mice do by moonlight. I think the cat's about to cheat.
